The Royal Hotel, Heysham

Built in 1503, The Royal Hotel is located in the oldest part of the charming village of Heysham. Situated beside the Church of St Peter and further surrounded by both historic and picturesque scenery the pub is an ideal place for tourist coming to the local area.  Being positioned directly in front of the infamous Morecambe Bay allows breath-taking sea views just a few minutes’ walk out of the pub entrance. Excellent transport link means Lancaster is just a short bus ride or 10 minutes’ drive away. Take a look at our local area page to get more information on The Royals nearby attractions.

However it’s not just the surrounding area that keeps both local village members and tourists visiting the Royal Hotel time and time again. The beamed ceilings, roaring log fires and old-style interior allow the Royal Hotel to be one of the last remaining traditional style pubs in the area. Whilst the beer garden, car park, large dining room and free Wi-Fi makes the pub accessible for all. The Royal specialises in fresh, quality, locally sourced produce for their home cooked food. We have large range of both beers and traditional cask ales, including a selection of the Daniel Thwaites’ Crafty Dan micro-brewery, many of which match perfectly with the food menu.

About Daniel Thwaites

In October 2015 The Royal Hotel was acquired by Daniel Thwaites. Thwaites have approximately 320 pubs across the North of England, with a large amount being located in North West England. The company first began brewing beer in 1809 and eventually entered the pub, inn and hotel sector. With over 100 years’ experience and knowledge the company are planning to invest money into the Royal Hotel to ensure the pub is a hub for local village and tourists visiting the area.
A full refurbishment of the pub will begin in 2016, although Thwaites are keen to keep the traditional features and values that both the pub and company have in common. More information about the refurbishment soon to follow…
